Our employers work with us as co-educators to train the next generation of leaders, provide active learning experiences and help individuals develop the workplace skills they need to thrive in an increasingly globalized world.
Helping you connect with students and alumni to make a global impact
We have never been more connected than we are today. Through our Global Experience Program, students are empowered to develop their understanding of global issues, broaden their perspective and worldview, and cultivate the intercultural knowledge, skills, values and attitudes necessary to thrive in today’s diverse and global economy.
The Global Experience Award helped fund my expenses to participate in the DAAD’s Rise Germany summer internship program. This summer has been a tremendous experience; I have both increased my technical skills and broadened my world view. Experiencing a new culture was also very eye-opening. I really enjoyed learning a new language.

The Global Experience Program is here to help you connect with globally minded students and alumni
Collaborate with the Student Success Centre’s Global Experience Program to provide co-op placements outside Canada, international internships and job opportunities, intercultural leadership development experiences and other global learning activities for McMaster students and alumni. Good news — we’re expanding our global internship opportunities for McMaster students. We highly value our employer and community partners and believe that these partnerships provide a cost-effective format for recruiting highly qualified, talented and globally minded students.
About the program
We work with employers and community partners who want to bring in students and alumni with diverse experiences, skills and cultural insights to increase an organization’s global competitiveness.
We prepare students and alumni for international opportunities through pre-departure programming, including support with travel logistics, travel health and safety, cultural preparedness and more.
We provide virtual opportunities such as volunteer and job fairs, information sessions and challenges.
The Global Experience Program may benefit you if your organization:
Has an international office
Recruits for opportunities based outside Canada
Works with international recruiters
Would like to learn about the global market
Has domestic and/or virtual opportunities available that have global scope, including international project management and stakeholder engagement (refer to “Global Impact at Home” tab)

Work with students and alumni to make a global impact at home
We recognize that global engagement occurs both within and beyond Canada’s borders. We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with employers and community partners that may have domestic and/or virtual roles available where intercultural skills and competencies are needed.
In-Canada and remote roles that have global scope are excellent ways for Canadian stakeholders to access students and alumni who are ambitious, adventurous and effective intercultural communicators, including our multilingual international student population. We provide ongoing support to students, alumni and community partners working on globally minded projects and opportunities.
